How To Make Steel Dustpan

Canet, from laughter to tears

After Tell No person , Guillaume Canet has been a month in hospital for a health problem, a months during which his friends have gone to bask in the sun on the pill. That's when the idea for the film was born. "I spent the following summer at Cap Ferret, where I realized that we could live a month in a house with friends without actually talking. We spend the day boating, we booze, but there is no real discussion. I realized that everything we do not want to admit it is put aside, we hide under our little handkerchiefs. " For his third film, Canet fully engaged, it is the scenario, implementation and in each of the characters. It contains humor, sensitivity and even if it appears not on the screen is well with him as we pass the half past two.

One immediately notices the complicity of all these actors and this is the great strength of the film, the authenticity of this band of friends, the friendship that binds them in life transpires screen. Cast aside, we find that makes Francois Cluzet Cluzet (and we love it), Gilles Lellouch once formidable Magimel not very credible, Laurent Lafitte underused, and Joel Dupuch (Jean-Louis) pretty amazing, too bad that female roles are not equal to their counterparts. Pascale and Arbillot Anne Marivin are completely transparent, Valerie Bonneton is very funny but as partners, not much to defend, only Marion Cotillard has something to be put in the tooth, it is also very good for two hours before fall through in his usual, I cry and I'm crates. The failure of the film may lie in its stereotypical characters, oh yes I have not talked about Nassim, the spiritual / sports lovers of words and listen to his body, or Frank, handsome musician, the velvet voice that loves a girl not love, so many shots that we could have done. The film is still very funny and out of the room, we want one, go on holiday with his friends, boating on the Arcachon basin and drinking rosé on the terrace while playing the guitar. Roll on summer!
