• In the 80's, stacks of green Thelonious Monk have been renovated by its former tenor Charlie Rouse with the complicity of Sahib Shihab on baritone, who participated in the first recording Round Midnight of Claudio Roditi on trumpet, Walter Davis Jr. of on piano, Santi Debriano on bass and Victor Lewis on drums. The label? Uptown , founded by a doctor in Montreal: Robert E. Sunenblick . Alas, thrice alas, this label has disappeared from the record shops. Still, the title of this magnificent album from start to finish is simply this: Soul Mates , a composition of Mal Waldron. However, for us this session has something to be cursed because it was the last of Rouse, and Davis Jr. Shihab Amen! Follows: Green Chimneys
